Natural Procreative Technology for Infertility and Women’s Health

Naprotechnology stands for natural, procreative technology. It is a women's health science designed to evaluate and treat female diseases in a scientific, comprehensive and ethical manner. It was founded by Dr. Thomas Hilgers, a Catholic Obstetrician and Gynecologist, who felt inspired to seek out ethical solutions to female medical problems after reading the encyclical, Humanae Vitae, by Pope St. Paul the VI.
We use Naprotechnology to diagnose the cause of and treat infertility. It is used to treat common female health problems such as PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), hormone dysfunction, and premenstrual syndrome/premenstrual dysphoric disorder. Depending on a given medical problem, the solution may involve a medical and/or surgical evaluation and treatment.
We also use Naprotechnology to evaluate and treat women who have had multiple miscarriages and we use its progesterone protocol to help prevent miscarriages due to inadequate hormone support.
Emeritus Pope Benedict the 16th, while serving under St. John Paul II, was well aware of Naprotechnology and he stated, “Naprotechnology is a gift of the people.” We are delighted to be able to offer the Naprotechnology medical (non-surgical) evaluation and treatment options for our patients at COLFS.
